Saturday May 28th started off almost like any other for Batabazi before any show. The above completed we were off to entertain the Twegaite Delegates at the Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA. Twegaite is a non-profit group benefiting the Busoga Region in Uganda. Part of the money collected from this region goes to develop part of Eastern Uganda via Hospitals, Schools etc That said Batabazi was invited to be a part of this event alongside other Ugandan artists Bebe Cool, Halima, Judith Babirye and Touch & Soul Band. They all did their thing..but the one person who surprised us was Bebe Cool! He STOPPED his set and asked the crowd to give us a round of applause not once but twice! Anyway long story short, to say Saturday night was not fun it would be sacrilege.
At about 3am we all parted ways about, 45 minutes later Tasha calls up PG & Jerome telling them to come and pick her up from the scene of a nasty accident. She had survived death by a whisker. A drunk driver run the red light and hit her car, both cars are total write-offs. (See picture above) This drunk dude was so drunk he didn’t know where the f*%! he was!! Regardless, we are thankful to God that Tasha made it out alive as we still have a lot of music to do!! She survived the accident with bumps and bruises but stronger..yeah..STRONGER! One of our managers asked her if she will be able to perform on June 4th, 6 days after her accident. To that she said “Yes! the show must go on..and i will not miss this for anything!” Spoken like a true Mutabazi..stay tuned..
So people one thing we have learned from this..live your life each day like its your last. Demarco says it best “I love my life”
